At 11 p.m. Friday Warsaw Fire Department was called for a full assist with Winona Lake Fire Department to a house fire at 1202 Park Ave., Winona Lake.
Two adults residing in the home were in the residence when the fire started. Both escaped without injury. The American Red Cross Kosciusko County Chapter is providing assistance for the adult occupants and also provided a canteen for the firefighters at the scene.
County records indicate the home is owned by Daniel and Carol Miles but is used as a rental property and occupied by Grace College’s sports information director, Josh Neuhart and his wife, Megan.
No injuries were reported in the blaze, but Squad 70, the Kosciusko County Fire Investigation Team, was called to determine the cause. According to Gordon Baker of Squad 70, the fire was ruled accidental electrical, the result of an old style knob and tube wiring system in the floor cavity. The unit caught insulation on fire and it quickly spread throughout the upstairs of the home.
The fire was determined to be under control at 11:30 p.m.
