The accident happened at approximately 6:20 p.m. in the eastbound lane of Center Street. Medics tending to Evans at the scene then transported him to the Kosciusko County fairgrounds where they met Samaritan air ambulance.

A witness to the crash says the light for Center Street traffic was in the process of changing when the car, driven by 55-year-old, Rick Hatcher of Warsaw, collided with the bicycle. The witness said Evans was northbound on Bronson Street when the light giving him the right of way changed to green.

The victim suffered road rash and complained of right shoulder pain but was conscious and alert. Due to the severity of his injuries, Evans was airlifted to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.

The investigation continues by the Warsaw Police Department.
