Winona Avenue from Union to Columbia is currently closed while NIPSCO works to repair the gas leak.

FROM THURSDAY NIGHT: Residents and officers on patrol are still reporting a strong odor of natural gas in the area of Winona Avenue and Union Street in downtown Warsaw. The odor is also being detected at 319 S. Columbia St. where NIPSCO has arrived.

NIPSCO was called to 417 N. Union St., at approximately 8:30 p.m. where gas was found to be leaking from meters at three houses all in a row.

Currently, crews from the Warsaw Fire Department are back in the vicinity trying to locate the exact location of what may be a large gas leak.

StaceyPageOnline.com is continuing to monitor the situation and will provide updates as they become available.
