Warsaw Fire Department’s Technical Rescue Team were instrumental in rescuing an Elkhart man who became trapped in a hole in his own back yard.
Warsaw Fire Chief Mike Brubaker tells StaceyPageOnline.com that the man told rescuers he was “digging for gold” and became trapped in the approximately 6-foot deep hole he had been digging.
Brubaker explains the man’s leg became trapped when water and sand in the hole caused his foot to sink. He was freed from the hole after approximately two hours.
Fire rescue crews from Clay, and Penn Township, Mishawaka and Niles fire departments were also on the scene.
